Don’t miss out on the event we in Deltaville wait for all year-the Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise. Thanks to the generosity of Walt Hurley and Tim Haley we will have two deadrise boats for the cruises, the Bethpager and the Robin J.
On Friday, December 9 (rain date, December 10), there will be four cruises: 4:30, 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 pm. Best to arrive at the Community Center about 15 minutes early. Forty-five tickets will be available for each cruise. Tickets for adults (anyone over 12) are $8. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge but must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult. The Community Center will close at 8pm this year so if you are on the 7:30 cruise come early for cookies and cider before your cruise. All others are welcome to stay until 8 pm.
Tickets include a roundtrip hayride from the Deltaville Community Center to the town dock, a boat ride on either the M.V. Bethpager or M.V. Robin J., and free homemade cookies and cider at the Community Center.
The DCA will again have a contest for the best homemade cookie, bar, or sweet at the Cruise. There will be two prizes: a $50 Gift Certificate from J & W Seafood for the entry judged “best” and a $50 Gift Certificate from Nauti Nell’s for the People’s choice award. The rules are simple. Your creation must be homemade, you need to fill out a brief descriptive form, and you must deliver your entry to the DCA Community Center by 4 PMDecember 9. Multiple entries are allowed. Winners are encouraged to share their recipes.
Tickets are available on November 10th at J & W Seafood and Nauti Nell’s on a first come, first served basis. Any tickets not sold before the event will be available at the door, but usually the cruises sell out early.
The Rappahannock River Railroad Club will again set up a display of model trains this year in the DCA Community Center. Children of all ages will delight in watching the model trains run the course.
Residents of Lovers Lane and on Jackson Creek are encouraged to decorate their properties for our visitors. Main Street will be decorated already and luminaries are promised for the event. Let’s make this the most festive Christmas cruise yet.
If you have questions call Raynell Smith- 804-815-3102. If you would like to volunteer to decorate or bake cookies, call Marsha Norton at 804-815-1071 and if you can help at the dock call Lud Kimbrough 804-514-5858.
Get your tickets now. Don’t be disappointed.
