The DCA Mission: “To preserve Deltaville’s identity as a distinct community and secure betterments that enhance quality of life for citizens and guests thereof.”
The Deltaville Community Association (DCA) was established on September 8, 1950 as the Deltaville Improvement Association, Inc. This name underwent transformations, becoming the Deltaville Civic Association, Inc. before evolving to its current designation on May 21, 1996.
As a tax-exempt non-profit organization, the core mission of the DCA is consistently focused on enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors through a variety of impactful initiatives. As Deltaville is an unincorporated village, with no town staff or taxing authority, the DCA takes on many of the parks, recreation, and community enrichment endeavors traditionally tended to by a town governments.
The DCA maintains a community campus totaling more than 20 acres across three nearby sites in the heart of Deltaville. In addition to maintaining these public facilities, the DCA takes pride in organizing several public events, including the festive Jackson Creek Christmas Boat Tour, the annual Deltaville 5K & Fun Run, and producing an annual Community Calendar & Community Christmas Ornaments. Furthermore, the DCA is dedicated to organizing numerous meetings on topics relevant to the interests of Deltaville’s citizens, ensuring a vibrant and engaged community.
The DCA’s 20-acre community campus sits in the heart of the village. These sites include the DCA Community Park, whose courts and grounds are free to use by the entire community; The DCA Community Center, which is available for rent for community events, gatherings, programs, and classes; The Ricky Taylor Memorial Swimming Pool, a community pool which offers seasonal memberships and public day pass access; the DCA Annex, home of the Rappahannock River Model Railroaders and Flotilla 62 of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary; and Deltaville Ballpark, Virginia’s oldest all-wooden baseball park which hosts on average 80+ youth & adult games & events each year.
To sustain these valuable programs & facilities, the DCA conducts an annual fundraising campaign, welcoming tax-deductible contributions from the community. Furthermore, the DCA houses an Endowment Fund, offering a vehicle for long-term support through cash donations, appreciated securities, or bequests in wills. Donations to the Endowment Fund are preserved as permanent capital, with the generated income directly bolstering the association’s efforts to foster community improvement and development.
Additional funding is provided by various fundraising events throughout the year, including the 5K & Kids Fun Run, annual community calendar & Christmas ornament, and sponsorships of DCA events.
The DCA holds monthly meetings on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00PM at the DCA Community Center, 17147 General Puller Highway. The public is invited to attend these meetings. An all-volunteer Board of Directors actively leads the programs and activities that make the DCA a valuable asset to the community.
