Blues Guitarist Tom Euler to perform in Urbanna June 27

Nineteen year old Thomas Nelson Community College music major, Tom Euler is a native of Middlesex and resident of Hart?eld. His tasteful and powerful style won him 5th place in the Blues Guitar category at Lee Ritenour’s International Music Competition this year (sixstringtheory.com). He is a member of the Bobby Blackhat Band and is also a songwriter. (soundcloud.com tom euler music) Tom will take the stage at Something Different Restaurant on Virginia Street in Urbanna on Friday, June 27th, from 8 until 10 PM with bassist Wes Mallory and drummer Mead Usry.
This will be a rare chance to hear great original music and enjoy crowd pleasing covers of Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Lang, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton and others.

Deltaville Seafood Festival 2014

The DCA presents The Deltaville Seafood Festival which includes seafood vendors, arts and crafts, and family focused activities. The festival will be located in the Deltaville Community Village and at the Deltaville Maritime Museum & Holly Point Nature Park.
Among other activities, the Festival will feature on-the-water activities for kayaks and paddle board enthusiasts from 11-2 at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Families who already own kayaks and paddle boards are encouraged to bring their ‘yaks and SUPS to launch and tour Mill and Jackson Creeks. Timed-run contests will be held for prizes and honor. For those who don’t own their own, free loaner kayaks and paddle boards will be available at the museum, thanks to many friends of the event.
Other activities on the waterfront include tours on the Explorer, boat rides, and chats with Capt. Willard Norris, one of the last builders of Deltaville Deadrise boats. Capt. Norris will speak about the Chesapeake Deadrise hull and why Deltaville was once known as “The Boat-building Capital of the Chesapeake Bay.” Visitors are free to enjoy the Holly Point Nature Park at the Deltaville Maritime Museum.
The Deltaville Community Village area will hold unique arts and crafts vendors will be offering quality hand made items including paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, and more. Festival organizers have selected unique vendors carefully to not duplicate wares. Just a couple of the many vendors participating are Burke’s Jeweler’s from Kilmarnock, and Wilton Cottage & Garden Gifts in Hartfield.
Seafood vendors for the event will also be staged at the Deltaville Community Village area. The list of vendors is outstanding and includes Strawberry Street Cafe from Richmond, Creekside Catering from Gloucester, Middlesex Lion’s Club, and Deltaville Oyster Company. The raw bar at Deltaville Oyster Company will feature national oyster shucking champion Deborah Pratt as well as her sister Clementine Boyd Macon.

The Rappahannock River Railroaders are holding their first open house of 2014. Come see the progress on the model train layouts. Trains will be running on G gauge, O gauge and HO gauge layouts. Light food will also be available.

Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise

The holidays are once again upon us and plans are underway for the annual Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise. There will be four cruises, one each hour, starting at 4:30 pm on Friday, December 13th-rain date Saturday, December 14th. Only forty tickets will be available for each cruise. Tickets for adults, anyone over 12, are $5. Children 12 and under are free but they must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Chaperones of children 3 and under must have an infant life jacket. Please call ahead of time if you need a jacket for a small child and the DCA will provide one. Regular children’s life jackets (for children of at least 50 pounds) will be provided on the tour boat, M. V. Tortuga.
Tickets will be available in Deltaville on November 21st at J & W Seafood and Nauti Nell’s on a first come, first served basis. Any tickets not sold before the event will be available at the door, but usually the cruises sell out early. Mail order tickets are available by sending a check made out to the DCA to Raynell Smith, P.O. Box 515, Deltaville, VA 23043. Make sure to specify a time for your cruise and how many adult and children’s tickets you need. Include a contact name and phone number. These tickets can be picked up at the door.
Once again, homemade cookies and apple cider will be provided free of charge. More details about the event will be published later. Volunteers are needed. If you can help or have any questions about tickets call Raynell Smith at 804-815-3102 or about the cruise- Bob Walker 804-694-9139.
Deltaville Farmer’s Market

The second of the Autumn Deltaville Farmer’s Markets will be held this Saturday October 26th from 9-1pm at Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park. As always, Billz Bistro (yum, yum!) will open for breakfast and coffee at 8am on Market Days.
The Autumn Markets specialize in the colors, produce, foodstuffs, arts, crafts and handmades of the Fall Season. The turning of the trees and plantings in Holly Point Nature Park and along its trails make for a colorful market day! Plenty of good food is always “hot to go” at Billz Bistro. The Bistro
opens at 8am with hot coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The lunch menu begins around 10am. Grab a table or a bench , enjoy the sights, and picnic. The new events pavilion is a wonder! Also, don’t miss seeing the new Museum a’building.
