Hi all you fans of the Museum,
This is just such a great month for the arts, history, and music at the Museum and Park that I just had to get this out early so you could mark your calendars.
I’ll send details later. I will also have reports in the Southside Sentinel.
If you are a history buff, you want to leave the whole 3rd weekend of August open.
The Virgina History Mobile will be on site for 3(count ‘em) three days from Thursday August 15th-Saturday August 17th with their world Class Civil War exhibits

Good morning sunshine! The first rays of the Sunday morning (Mar 3rd)sun dapple the just finished truss system for the new Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park ’s 8000 square foot events pavilion’s North and South wings.. Framed from the right by the backhoe donated for the project by Jack Dozier of Dozier’s Dockyard and Regatta Point Marina in Deltaville, the new multi-use pavilion will include a full quantity kitchen, 4 bathrooms, and a performing arts stage. The wings are designed to be used separately or in conjunction. The visible open area with the large columns in the South wing(closest to you) will remain open on both sides to allow for easy access and airflow. Angle braces will be a feature of each column. The performing stage will nestle inside the walls of the end of the South wing visible to the left. The baths will be part of the inset connecting passage seen between the two wings.(Photo and caption by Bill Powell)

Slab Poured for Events Pavilions at Museum: At 6:05 on Monday, February 4th, a crew from Peninsula Concrete and Steel of Gloucester began the first concrete pour for the new floor slab at the pavilion at Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park . Here workers swarm as they use a “snorkel” pump to pour, and then pull, place and screed the concrete in the area of the pavilion which will house the new kitchen facilities for Billz Bistro.. A line of trucks from Rappahannock Concrete, Inc. supplied the concrete. The framing of the pavilions begins on Thursday Feb 7th.

The new pavilion will be a MAJOR addition to what the museum and park can do year round for the community.
Come out and watch as it grows.
