By Bill Powell
The Deltaville Maritime Museum at Holly Point Nature Park will kick off its first Farmer’s Market of Fall at 9am on September 24th. This 4th Saturday in September Market will open the Museum’s Fall market season of two Autumn Markets as well as the extremely popular gift-oriented “Holiday Market” and “Pierwalk Promenade” held on Thanksgiving weekend. All 3 markets will be held on fourth Saturdays from 9am-1pm. Billz Bistro, as always, will open for breakfast and coffee at 8am on all Market Days.
The Autumn Markets specialize in the colors, produce, foodstuffs, arts, crafts and handmades of the Fall Season. The turning of the trees and plantings in Holly Point Nature Park and along its trails make for a colorful market day! Plenty of good festival food is always “hot to go” at Billz Bistro. Grab a table or a bench, enjoy the sights and picnic.
The Market is also proud to welcome new vendors Nancy Hebner, Phyllis Watt,Christy Pitts &Rosanne Moncure, June Steel, Amy Langford and Cecil Watts. Nancy will be bringing her “Sassy N Classy Jewelry” of fused glass jewelry, plates and bowls. Phyllis Watt offers unique and functional stoneware pottery, decorative “raku” items, ceramic and resin jewelry. Christy and Rosanne go upscale with cultured pearl earrings and necklaces, collegiate purses and scarves. June offers “Scentsy” wickless, smokeless, flameless candles and Amy brings her cupcakes. Cecil specializes in photographs and framed prints.
Artisan Bread Company will also be on hand with sourdough and homemade breads as Cedar Point Woodworks sports their line of outdoor cedar furniture and college logo “sportulas”
There’s always “music, music ,music” at the Market and David Moran and Dan Theuerkauf of “Steamboat Road” will be playing on stage under the John’s Events Pavilion. Back by popular demand, David will MC an open mike onstage to give local musicians the opportunity to come out and perform. The open mike will begin around 10am.
Don’t miss the “best little Festival” in the State, the Holly Point Art and Seafood Festival coming up on October 8th, from 10am-4pm. Only the best original artists working in their own favorite medias, wood turners, hand sewn clothing, custom furniture and some surprises. Don’t forget, there’s something for everyone.
